What is D-10 visa?

D-10 is a “Job Seeking Visa”, which allows foreigners to remain in Korea while searching for employment.

D-10 visa is valid for 6 months, but can be renewed one more time (for a total of 1 year). However, if applicants have graduated from a Korean University, they renew their visa up to 2 years.

You can apply for D-10 if you have:

- Recently been employed for over 1 year, within the last 3 years, in a listed company on the Fortune’s Global 500 companies

Or

- Recently graduated, within 3 years, from a university listed on the Times’ Higher World University Rankings (Top 200)

Or

- Recently graduated, within 3 years, from a Korean community college or higher

Or

-Had an E-type visa (and are between jobs)

Activities allowed:

- Job seeking activities or on-the-job paid training (including short-term paid internship) at a Korean company

- Technology / Business startup activities (OASIS programs)

D-10 point system:

The point system is used to evaluate candidates based on age, education, experience and Korean language abilities.

To apply, foreigners must have 60 points or higher (including over 20 points in the basic requirements) out of a total of 190 points).

*For the “Employment” section, Domestic work must be related to your visa type. For Abroad work, it must be (1) after uni graduation, (2) full-time, (3) not an internship, (4) related to your uni major, and (5) supported by a letter/work certificate which immigration will verify (apostille not required). You CAN add together domestic/abroad employment points, to a maximum of 15 points. Example: 2 years working in Korea (5 points) + 4 years working abroad (5 points) = 10 points. **For the “Special” category entries, contact 1345 for more information. Details are somewhat unclear. ***For the “Special” category top universities section, graduation from a QS 500 uni can be from any year, as long as the university is currently listed. For a Times 200 university, the university must be currently on the list, and you must have graduated within the last 3 years.  You CAN add together training and education experience in Korea points.

*There are several other technicalities. Call 1345 if you are unsure of whether you qualify for any particular part.
