Yes! If you have a great idea or already have intellectual property, the Global Start-up Immigration Center welcomes you to join the OASIS program.

Wait, before going farther, let's find out about the requirements for the START-UP VISA (D-8-4)

Here are the requirements:

1. you must have a Bachelor's degree (from foreign country) or Associate's degree (from Korea)

2. you must have 80 or more points in the point system (more on this later) -  if you complete some of the OASIS classes and prerequisite items, you would be able to make it.

3. you must establish your own corporation - in  OASIS-8 , you will learn about it.

*You can take this program while you have a TOURIST VISA (we will talk about visa later)

1. HOW TO APPLY TO OASIS?

Korea will help your idea or intellectual property come true by supporting you.

First, you need to take the OASIS program. OASIS stands for Overall Assistance for Start-up Immigration System. This program is mostly offered monthly. Due to Covid-19, the 2020 program has ended early. They may offer a new program starting from the end of January, 2021. To apply and join the program, you first need to be in Korea. So come here as a tourist with tourist  visa. And then apply on their website: www.oasisvisa.kr

In brief, OASIS-1/2/4 are Lectures    |   OASIS-3 and 6: competition (if you win, they will sponsor you)    |    OASIS-5 is Mentoring   |   OASIS-8 is for Corporate Establishment

*You cannot take OASIS-2 before OASIS-1

After the OASIS programs appear, you may see the "apply" buttons. However, the buttons may not be on the programs you want to take. You need to check daily till the program you want appears. The tip is that these programs are offered monthly and that they accept 20 applicants. So, within 3 days, it is usually fully reserved and closed to new applicants. On top of that, the officer do not know when exactly it will be open for applicants. So check frequently if you are interested.

If you manage to hit "apply" on a program you want, a google sheet will appear like the image below. Fill out the form and submit it. They will send your confirmation result via email.

By the way, due to Covid-19, they might offer online lectures instead of the usual offline program. You might think you can take lectures in your home country BUT it is not possible. This OASIS program is ONLY for foreigners who are IN Korea. So you need to be IN Korea while you apply and take lectures.

2. VISA?

If you come to Korea with a tourist visa, 90 days of stay could be too short for establishing a START-UP. So here is the solution. While you are staying with Tourist visa, you can apply and take OASIS-1 and 2, or 4 and get a certification. With this certification, you can now apply for the D-10-2 Visa (Job seeker visa). You need the documents listed below:

1. Application, Passport,  Photo (1ea)

2. Degree certification

3. OASIS certification, Start-up plan

4. Residence/Accommodation agreement

If you have them all, D-10-2 Visa is waiting for you!

3. 80 or 80+ points?


Now it is time to talk about the points. How can you reach 80 or more points?

1. Required items: You must fulfill at least one of the following (prerequisite) - Total 313 points 

2. Elective Item and points -Total 135 points

CASE 1:

Patent ownership → D-8-4

-Required item: Patient ownership (80 points)

-Elective item: None

-Sum: 80 points

CASE 2:

Patent application  + OASIS Education → D-8-4

-Required item: Patent application (20 points)

-Elective item: OASIS-1 certification (15 points)

                              OASIS-2 certification (25 points)

                              OASIS-4 certification (25 points)

-Sum: 85 points

CASE 3

Patent application + OASIS Education + Mentoring +  Incubation +TOPIK → D-8-4

-Required item: Patient application (20 points)

-Elective item: OASIS-4 certification (25 points)

                              OASIS-5 mentoring & coaching (15 points)

                              OASIS-7 incubation graduation (15 points)

                              TOPIK Level 3 (10 points)

-Sum: 85 points

CASE 4

Patent application + Exhibition award + OASIS Education → D-8-4

-Required item: Patent application (20 points)

                                 Exhibition award (25 points)

-Elective item: OASIS-1 certification (15 points)

                              OASIS-2 certification (25 points)

-Sum: 85 points

If your sum is 80 or more, you meet one of the three requirements (which are 1. Bachelor/Associate degree, 2. 80 or more points,  3. Corporation Establishment).

4. CORPORATION ESTABLISHMENT?

Take OASIS-8 to establish your own corporation. If your patent or ideas meets their requirements, they will help you prepare documents and establish it.
